Empowering Educators, Inspiring Children, Building Physical Literacy-From EDI Results to Meaningful Practice: Supporting Children Through Professional Learning

The Early Learning Quality Initiative was pleased to host Trent University Nursing students Brianna Sandercock and Angela Rogers over the past two months. On July 16th they presented their Physical Literacy Handbook to the community—a practical resource designed to help early learning educators foster movement, active play, and physical development in their programs. Thank you to those educators who joined us for the presentation.

This project was developed in collaboration with the Early Learning Quality Initative in response to the Early Development Instrument (EDI) results for the City of Kawartha Lakes and County of Haliburton: to enhance and support our community’s commitment to strengthening children’s physical development and overall well-being through quality early learning experiences.

This handbook is designed to evolve, with new activities, resources, and recommendations added to support ongoing learning and practice. The ELQI is developing a dedicated website to host resources and professional learning opportunities focused on From EDI Results to Meaningful Practice: Supporting Children Through Professional Learning. Additional information, including access details and available resources, will be shared once the website is launched.
