Ontario Dietians In Public Health-Resources for Educators

Ontario Dietitians in Public Health (ODPH) recognizes the essential roles that child care settings play in supporting children’s growth and development, health, and well-being.

A supportive nutrition environment is one that encourages and facilitates positive relationship with food. It provides a nurturing space where children have:

  1. access to age-appropriate food at regular times
  2. a safe and encouraging eating atmosphere
  3. opportunities to explore and try new foods
  4. the ability to listen to their hunger and fullness cues

The ODPH has developed many resources, tools and activities to support educators to faciliate and encourage positive relationships with food in their daily interactions and engagement with children.
