“Childcare as Community: A Critical Conversation about Inclusion” with Kathryn Underwood – registration is open

Saturday, September 28, 2024 we will be hosting a one day conference. We welcome Kathryn Underwood to facilitate our day together “Childcare as Community: A Critical Conversation About Inclusion”.

This event will be held at Celebrations (35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay) from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Join us for a day of important discussions about inclusion with Kathryn Underwood.  Together, we will listen to information shared and discuss several factors impacting inclusion in the early learning and childcare profession, such as the current workforce crisis, ableism, poverty, racism, equity, and more.  While discussing these impacts, we will also learn more about how Universal Design can be used to support an inclusive early learning and childcare community.  Throughout our time together, the hope is all participants will not only see the important responsibility they have in creating an inclusive early learning and childcare community but that we are also a part of community together!

This day together will be an engaging professional learning opportunity.

If you would like to read Kathryn Underwood’s article “Everyone Is Welcome: Inclusive Early Childhood Education and Care” in the ‘Think, Feel, Act’ document from the Ministry of Education, you can read it online here or send me an email to request a copy of the document.

This one-day conference is free to educators and staff working in licensed childcare (home and centre based), EarlyON programs, Authorized Recreation and Special Needs Resourcing. Please ensure you follow the procedure for cancellation and non-attendance to avoid being invoiced for this event.
There is a non-attendance fee of $25.
