July and August 2024 Professional Learning Opportunities

Summer is here and ELQI is offering some professional learning opportunities throughout July and August.

There will be 2 book studies (1 in July and 1 in August) where we will read and discuss some of the books in the Travelling Tales libraries – there is no pre-reading required to attend these book studies!

You will also notice there are weekly special activities offered through the library – if you aren’t able to make it the date is offered, you may see it offered again in the future. Registration is required to ensure there are enough materials for everyone. More details about each special activity is found through the links on the flyer included on this post.

Please note the first registration link (to make a Seven Grandfather Teaching kit) has been corrected; registration will now close on Tuesday, July 9th at noon.

You will also notice, the library will be open daily. You can find the hours the library is open on the calendar included in the document in this post; there are different hours offered on different days in hopes you can stop by.

Stop by the library this summer to browse the materials available to borrow in the ELQI and Travelling Tales Libraries, become a registered Librarika member (if you aren’t already) and sign out some materials and resources to take with you. You are welcome to work in the library to do some program planning if you want to use the library resources without borrowing them.

I look forward to seeing you this summer!

**Please note: the document has been updated to reflect a couple of changes in dates that things registration is needed for:

  • Library Special Activity (loose parts mandalas) originally scheduled for Tuesday July 23 will now be on Tuesday August 6
  • the Travelling Tales Book Study originally scheduled for Tuesday August 13 will now be on Wednesday August 14

Please remember when visiting our office (205 McLaughlin Road, Lindsay), it is a scent sensitive building. Thank you for being as fragrant free as possible to help create a safe and accessible environment for everyone.
There is also a scent allergy to cinnamon and all citrus.  Please do not bring or use anything with these scents prior to visiting our office that contain these scents (such as: food, drinks, candy/gum, scented lotions/hand sanitizer, essential oils, etc.).

The Early Learning Quality Initiative & Travelling Tales Libraries and professional learning opportunities offered through ELQI are available to educators working in licensed childcare (home and centre based), EarlyON, Special Needs Resourcing and Authorized Recreations programs in the City of Kawartha Lakes and County of Haliburton.
