As we get ready to turn our calendars to June tomorrow, I wanted to share the change in plans for the June ELQI professional learning opportunities.
This time of year often sees a decline in registration for the PD opportunities offered and this year is no different. We will be changing things up for June – instead of having the monthly gatherings with a focused topic, we will be switching these to library open house times.
During these additional library open house times, there will be different materials set up and information shared each week. These additional open house times in June will also allow educators to come and visit the new library space! As at any library open house, educators will also be welcome to sign up as a member for both libraries in Librarika and sign materials out to take with them while they are here.
We will also still have the Travelling Tales book study taking place on Monday, June 10th. Registration is required for this – you can register here by noon on Friday, June 7th.
When you come out to any of the library open house times in June, there will be some extra surprises too!
You can visit during any of the follow library open house times to see the new space. Registration is not required to attend a library open house – you can stop in at any time during the hours it is taking place. Please note some of the different times for a couple of the dates:
- Wednesday, June 5 from 4:30 – 7:30 pm*
- Tuesday, June 11from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm*Wednesday, June 12 from 2:00 – 7:00 pm
- Wednesday, June 19 from 2:00 – 7:00 pm
- Wednesday, June 26 from 2:00 – 7:00 pm|
You are also more than welcome to send me an email anytime to book a different time for yourself and/or your team to visit the library at a time that works for you (evening and weekend times are available).
I hope to see you at one of the upcoming library open house times!
Summer ELQI plans will be shared in the next few weeks as things are confirmed.
Please remember when visiting our office (CLTH Lindsay office: 205 McLaughlin Road), it is a scent sensitive building. Thank you for being as fragrant free as possible to help create a safe and accessible environment for everyone.
There is also a scent allergy to cinnamon and all citrus. Please do not bring or use anything with these scents prior to visiting our office that contain these scents (such as: food, drinks, candy/gum, scented lotions/hand sanitizer, essential oils, etc.).
ELQI opportunities ( including both libraries) are available at no cost to educators and staff working in licensed childcare (home and centre based), EarlyON, Special Needs Resourcing and Authorized Recreation programs in the City of Kawartha Lakes and County of Haliburton.

Such a beautiful and inviting space for learning together! We are so lucky to have so many supports and fabulous resources in our community. Thank you 🙂

I look forward to sharing this new space with educators; if you hear of anyone wanting to visit the space and are unable to attend during an open house time please have them reach out to set up a different time that would work for them.
