Information from Kawartha Lakes Public Library

During a recent Wellness Community of Practice, I shared information from the Kawartha Lakes Public Library. I asked for some general library information along with some information on some of the resources available that can support a person’s health and wellness.

In addition to books, the Kawartha Lake Public Library has a Library of Things that includes: Full Steam Ahead kits, Cognitive Kits, Community Passes (for local attractions and Ontario Parks), Active Living and Sensory Kits.

Often when we think of libraries, books come to mind. The Kawartha Lakes Library has many great books in their collection, including some great ways to explore and find books! They share different lists (including a variety of award winning titles) to help you find a new book to read.

The Kids section also has a number of different ways to find and access books, including: 100 Books to Read Before Kindergarten, Grab and Go Book Bags and Book Bundles (where you fill out a form indicating your child’s interests and the library staff will hand select books for you!). Library staff have also been taking time to set up a number of different Story Walks throughout our communities. You can check out this list of current Story Walk titles and locations to check out.

You are also welcome to visit any of the 14 Kawartha Lakes Library branches during their hours of operation to browse the materials available (or request materials from a different branch location) and chat with any of the great staff.

You can access all of these great things from the Kawartha Lakes Public Library for free with a library card. If you aren’t a resident of the City of Kawartha Lakes, you can read more about accessing Kawartha Lakes Public Library as a Reciprocal Borrower.

What is one of your favourite things to borrow from the local public library?
Thank you Kawartha Lakes Public Library for sharing all of this information with our local early learning and childcare community!
