ELQI and Travelling Tales Library Information

Did you know there are 2 libraries with over 1400 materials for educators and staff in our local early learning and childcare community to explore and have access to at no cost to you? They are the ELQI and Travelling Tales libraries.

The ELQI Library has more than 700 titles and resources available to support, not only your work but to also support your wellness and interests. This library also has a number of book study sets available. You can find more information on the book study sets and additional resources available in a separate Google site we’ve created in this previous blog post.

The Travelling Tales Library has more than 800 children’s books and additional materials to support inclusion, diversity, accessibility and more in your centre/program! More information about Travelling Tales (including a separate Google Site with more information) can be found in this previous blog post.

Both of these libraries have a Librarika link where you can browse the online catalogue. Once you are a registered member in our Librarika Libraries, you can request materials.

If you’re wanting to borrow materials from either of these libraries, you can follow this simple process:

  1. Become a registered member of Librarika by sending Beckie an email with your name, email address and centre/program you work at.
  2. To borrow materials you can place a hold on things in the Librarika catalogue. You can view a ‘How To’ Video on how to request a book through Librarika here.
You can also get in touch with Beckie if you are needing some help with choosing books.
  3. Beckie will get things signed out for you and will send the items with the Early Learning Coordinator that visits your program or we can make other arrangements for you to get your materials.

There are library open house times scheduled throughout the year when you are welcome to come in and browse through the materials in the libraries. If you’d like to book a different time to explore the library for yourself or your team, you can email Beckie to set it up.

Overdue library materials:

Library materials (for both the ELQI and Travelling Tales Libraries) are on loan for a period of 60 days.  The due date is when they are expected to be returned to the Lindsay office.  If you are still using the materials or know the materials will be returned to the office later than this date, please email Beckie (rkellett@clth.ca) to request the loan period be extended (materials renewed).

If you receive an email from Beckie checking in on overdue materials, please take a minute to respond to the email to indicate when they will be returned or to request the materials be renewed.

If the materials are more than one month overdue and there has been no request to renew them, then the Manager of the Early Learning Programs will follow up with you to make plans to have materials returned (within a set amount of time) or an invoice will be sent to cover the cost of the books/materials.
