Earlier this week, a small group of educators came together to participate in a loose parts swap. Everyone left with something new to use in their programs!
ELQI had a number of materials available too that were available in the swap. In the picture below, you will see the remaining materials available. If you would like any of these materials, please either reach out to the Early Learning Coordinator who visits your centre/program to see if it’s still available and they can pick it up for you.
As we move forward, the ELQI Library will no longer house loose parts materials as it has in the past. This means you will no longer be able to access materials by requesting materials through myself or the Early Learning Coordinator that visits your centre/program. The limited loose parts materials remaining will be used in upcoming PD opportunities.
At the materials swap earlier this week, we had some discussions around doing a toy/material swap again in the future. It was also discussed about ways we could do a swap without needing to load up a vehicle, unload at a location and then packing up anything at the end of the time. An idea I shared was to use our private Facebook group as a place where educators and staff can either share what they have available to give to others, or they can share what they are looking for. If you would like to participate in this, you (or someone from your centre/program who is on Facebook), will need to join the private ELQI group (this is different than our public page that anyone can like/follow). Once you’re in the group, you can post photos of anything you have to offer to others and/or you can share what you are looking for. The group is set that posts will need to be approved, so if you noticed a post hasn’t been approved and visible in the group, please send me an email to make sure I received a notification to approve a post.
