Delivery of Materials

You may have received your delivery of resource materials already; if you haven’t, they are coming very soon!

The materials you are receiving are a variety of resources you will be able to use to support your own learning in addition to using with the children and families within your centres/programs.

It is always a great idea to be familiar with the material before sharing it with children and families. This will give you an opportunity to not only become more familiar with the content, but to also look if the content is something you would like to share with children and families at this time (and if not, to hopefully look at how to share it in the future).

In our January Diversity Community of Practice, we took some time to look closely at one of the books you are receiving in this package of materials: “The Antiracist Baby” by Ibram X Kendi. Even though it was a small group, we were able to watch this YouTube video and have some great conversation about how this book could be a great resource to support our own learning.

The document found on this post was also included in your package of materials to invite you to our February Diversity Community of Practice to look at these materials more closely. This CoP is set for 7-8 pm, but I also want to share if there is great conversation taking place, we will not be in a rush to end at 8 pm and can stick around longer. If you need to leave at 8 pm, please know that is completely understandable and you are welcome to do that. If we feel more time is needed, we can also carry on with the discussion at the March Diversity Community of Practice.

I hope you (or someone, or even more than one) will be able to join us on February 21st to share your thoughts, how you have used any of the materials and any questions you may have. You can find the link to register on the note that was in your package (also attached on this post) or in the February PD Opportunities post (shared on February 1, 2023).

I will also have a copy of these materials available during our February Library Open Houses (Thursday, February 9 from 3:00-6:00 and Friday, February 24 from 10:00-2:00) to look at have have discuss together.
