Why Nature?

The beauty of children playing outside is that they learn differently then playing inside. Negotiating uneven ground, circumnavigating logs and obstacles, observing wildlife and precious flowers helps even the youngest child to manage themselves and better judge risks. Offering experiences in the great outdoors will inspire and encourage a love and respect for nature for years to come. We all know that playing outside enhances a child’s development but it challenges them physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. Those things are vital and essential for surviving and thriving in our fast-paced modern day lives.

Nature develops a child’s wellbeing, curiosity and love of learning, creativity, resilience, connection to the Natural world, self-confidence, physical health, lifelong memories. Confidence is a characteristic valued by many and is often one that parents, and teachers want for children. It is argued that this approach can encourage ownership of the outdoor space and the relationship each child builds with the outdoor environment. As a result, children’s confidence can be built.  Self-confidence will come from children having the freedom , time and space.

It is not what children are born with that counts , but what they are allowed to do and who they are encouraged to be!
